Dressing for What Feels Right, Not for The Noice Around Me

Fashion is about something that comes from within you. (Ralph Lauren)

Fashion is my way to express how I love being myself.

When you say, "Fashion is my way to express how much I love myself," it suggests that the choices you make in clothing and style are not just about following trends but are a reflection of your self-esteem and appreciation for who you are. embracing your personal style and feeling confident in the way you present yourself can contribute to a positive self-image and a sense of empowerment - [Faheem Khan on Medium]

To me, fashion is a quiet way of showing self-love. It's not about trends or rules, but about choosing what feels right for me. Some day it's something simple, other days it's something bold, either way, it's a reflection of how I see and respect myself. I dress for comfort, for confidence, and for those small moments when I just want to  feel like me. Perhaps the power of fashion is often underestimated, when in fact it has the ability to change one's identity and shape one's personality.

The sad thing is the importance of dressing for ourselves is something we’re rarely taught, especially as little girls. I don’t know about you but subconsciously, as in it was never said out loud, I feel I was raised to dress for others, and men in particular. This is no failing on my mum’s part, I believe we’re all raised this way and have been for centuries. (www.jessicarosewilliams.com)

So, I write this blog is for anyone who wants to tune out the noice and dress in a way that truly reflects who you are πŸ’—

Everywhere we look, we're told how to dress, from social media influencers to fashion magazines, to well-meaning friends and family. the constant advice can be overwhelming. Over time, I learned to ask myself one important question before buying or wearing anything. "Does this feel like me?" learning to recognize this "Noice" in fashion helped me start focusing on my voice.

One day, I was cleaning out the photos in my gallery, and I accidentally saw a photo of me dressed comfortably and in a very “me” style. It reflected very little of what I truly love. And I started by sorting through my clothes, picking out the pieces that made me feel good. i found myself drawn to soft colors and comfortable fabrics. Then my closet finally began to reflect my personality, not the trends.

Here's how you can start finding your own voice, too

1. What makes you feel comfortable and confident? Notice what you reach for the most.

Start by paying attention to the pieces you naturally gravitate towards — the ones you find yourself wearing on repeat without even thinking. Maybe it’s that oversized shirt that feels like a soft hug, or those high-waisted jeans that fit just right and make you walk a little taller. These pieces say a lot about what makes you feel like you.

Comfort and confidence go hand in hand. When you're comfortable in what you wear, you tend to carry yourself with more ease, and that quiet confidence shines through. It’s not always about dressing up or making a statement — sometimes, it’s about choosing outfits that let you move freely, breathe easily, and feel grounded in your own skin.

So the next time you open your closet, notice what your hands reach for first. That’s your style speaking to you. Listen to it — because what feels right on the outside can often reflect how you’re doing on the inside, too.

2. Ignorant the label. Don't worry about whether something is "fashionable" if it makes you feel amazing, it's a win.

Don't worry about whether something is "in" or considered "fashionable" by others. Trends come and go, but your personal style is something that stays with you. If an outfit makes you feel amazing, confident, comfortable, and most importantly, like yourself then that's already a win. You don't need approval from a trend list or a fashion influencer to validate your choices. The best kind of style is the one that feels authentic to you. So wear what you love, even if no one else gets it especially if no one else gets it.

3. Experiment without judgment. Try on styles, colors, and cuts you've always been curious about, let yourself be surprised.

Give yourself the freedom to explore. Try that color you’ve always admired from afar, or that style you used to think “wasn’t you.” Step out of your comfort zone, not because you have to, but because you get to. You might be surprised by how much you actually love something once you let go of those inner filters and expectations. And if it doesn’t work out? That’s okay too — it’s all part of the process. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s discovery. Let style be a playground, not a performance.

Now, instead of following trends, I bought pieces that resonated with my personal style, my closet includes basics that I love wearing, along with a few unique, quirky pieces that make me smile. My favorite? cardigans and flowy skirts, full of colors and unique cutouts that makes me happy 😊

This is how I started curating a more “me” wardrobe:

Invest in quality over quantity. A smaller wardrobe with pieces you love feels more satisfying πŸ₯°

Look for comfort and fit first. There’s no point in owning something that you won’t wear because it’s uncomfortable 😣

Trends can be fun, but I only embrace them if they genuinely fit my personality. I’ve learned to appreciate that style is deeply personal it's for you, not anyone else.

So, if you’re also feeling lost in the noise, I encourage you to take a step back and rediscover what feels right for you . You’ll feel more at home in your own clothes, and you’ll create a style that feels uniquely yours whether or not it’s on the cover of a magazine. Happy styling Lavies! πŸ’•

When I Wear Makeup, It's For Me and For Every Girl

source: pixels (Adrienn) edit by Canva Hi Lavies !πŸ’— It's Monday, which means it's time for an update! This time, I'm writing about something close to my heart, that is makeup and little thing about ✨Girlhood✨--I think. Hehe source: Pinterest Makeup has always felt like more than just a routine for me—it’s a ritual, my way to feel connected to myself. It's not just about looking good or pretty. It’s about feeling good, connecting with myself, and celebrating the beautiful world of girlhood that I’m so proud to be a part of. OH, and let me just say this loud and clear; I don't wear makeup for men. I wear it for myself and for all the beautiful, inspiring girls out there. πŸ˜πŸ’• Some days, I'm all about the cute soft glam, a little blush, a quick swipe of mascara, and just enough glow to make me feel fresh and radiant. Other days, I go all out: with eyeshadow, sharp eyeliner, and a lipstick shade that says, “I’m here, and I’m feeling gorgeous today!” πŸ˜„πŸ’• source: P...
